Tribal writers urged to document Gujjar Culture, Gojri Language

Jammu, Dec 03 (Only Kashmir): Impressing upon the tribal Gujjars and Bakerwal Community to work jointly to preserve their oldest heritage and the ‘words treasure’ of Gojri language by documenting its folk and modern literature –the experts- of 2 day state level Gojri Literary and Cultural Meet called upon government agencies for speedy development of Gojri-the third largest spoken language of Jammu and Kashmir.
They were speaking on the concluding day of Meet Organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages held here at K L saigal Hall of Academy. More than 150 writers, poets , intellectuals, critics and artists from all over the State participated.
Dr. Javaid Rahi , Chief Editor of State Academy said that the outcome of this 2-day literary and cultural meet was quite encouraging. He said suggestions received from Gojri writers regarding promotion of Gojri Language will be implemented in letter and spirit. He said that those suggestions which pertains to other departments will be forwarded to relevant quarters immediately after conclusion of pogramme for implementations. He assured that Academy will provide all help to Gojri writers for publication of their books in shape of subsidy and other assistance.
Sh. Munshi Khan Choudhary vetren writer of Gojri in his presidential address impressed upon the Gojri writers, poets and intellectuals to play a strong role in reformation of Tribal society of Gujjar adding that this is a high time to promote their writing through latest means across globe.
The Paper reading session was presided by prominent Gojri Writer Ch. Amin Qammar . Ch Ghulam Rasool Asghar, Dr. Jahanger Asghar , and Hassan Parwaz read out the paper and highligheted the achievements of Gojri language.
The Paper Session was followed by Short Story reading session which was presided over by versatile writer Ch Hameed Kassana.
A state level Gojri Mushaira was held on the occasion. Babu Noor Mohammad Noor, Lal Hussain Gohar, Khadam Kohli, Tariq Faheem, Yaseen Naz , Noor Mohd Majorh, M Hussain Naseem, Sarwar Chohuan, Khakan Sajjad, Jan Mohammad Hakeem and others read out their poems.
A Musical programme was the main attraction of the event. Those who performed and mesmerized the audience includes Ch Bashir Mastana Parveena Jan and Party, Farha Choudhary, Aneesa Kareem , Shibana Choudhary, Bashrat Nazuk and Noor un Nisa and Rubia Choudhary and party participated.
Dr.Shah Nawaz Editor cum Cultural Officer Gojri conducted the programme while Mehmood Riaz presented vote of thanks.
