Three LeT Militants and women killed in Handwara Encounter

Srinagar, Dec 11 (Only Kashmir): Three foreigner militants belonging from LeT outfit were killed in Younsu village of Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. During the encounter a local civilian woman of the area identified as Mysara was also killed in cross firing, which trigged widespread protests in town forcing authorities to suspend internet services in North Kashmir.
According to the reports Kashmir News Bureau received here, the gunfight in Younsu village broke out at 3am, when the troops of 92 CRPF Battalion along with 22 Rashtriya Rifle and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel, acting on intelligence inputs laid a cordon in the area.

Around 4 am, the militants opened fire on the forces while they were zeroing in on them and this triggered an encounter in which three militants were killed. A 25-year-old woman, identified as Mysra, was also killed in cross firing during the encounter.
DIG, North Kashmir, V K Birdi said the woman was killed in the “cross-fire after she tried to escape from the house where the militants were trapped”.
In a tweet, Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said that all the three militants, “apparently Pakistanis”, were killed by joint team of J&K Police, RR & CRPF, adding, “It has been raining whole night & boys (forces personnel) were out there in the cold.”.
Meanwhile, hundreds joined today a protest march led by MLA Langate Sheikh Abdul Rashid against killing of Mysara. Protesters were chanting slogans seeking arrest of the army men and an end to ‘state terrorism.’
