Respected Geelani Sahab
I would like to ask you certain questions; I hope you won’t mind answering them.
During my childhood, I spent most of my time in front of television. The innovation of 3G/4G Mobile phones made it easier for me to watch the same content on mobile. Most of the youth from Kashmir valley are either watching new movies on their cell phones or they go outside the state by spending a huge amount on traveling to watch the new movies on big screens.
Now going through your statement about “Re-Opening the cinemas in Saudi Arabia,” you slammed Saudi Arabia for re-opening Movie Theatres after decades, You also said that opening cinemas is an ”Un-Islamic move” but I don’t understand why you are silent on the cinemas of Pakistan which are functional from 1929. Why no reaction from your side for the cinemas of Pakistan. Why there is hypocrisy in your blood? Now you will say we don’t have any concern with Pakistan, please tell me then why you shout slogans like “Pakistan se Rishta Kya La-ilaha-illalah”, “Kashmir Banega Pakistan”. I’m damn sure one day you people will change white kafan to green kafan to show love towards the Pakistan and that will not be a un-Islamic move for you.
Now coming to Kashmir, why do you oppose reopening of cinemas in the valley when there are cinemas already in every pocket of the youth. Every day there are live concerts in SKICC Srinagar then that’s also un-Islamic move but you don’t speak about it because your grandson is an employee there who manages the concerts in SKICC. Shooting Movies in Kashmir is fine for you but watching them on big screens is wrong for you.
Why should only common Kashmiri suffer because of your greed? Your family members are enjoying western lifestyle but you let common Kashmiri die. Due to the unwanted hartal calls Kashmir is facing a severe economic crisis. If cinemas reopen in valley, it will boost our economy, enhance happiness, bring peace and give employment.
It’s time to reclaim the space for entertainment and give youth what they aspire.(END)
