Srinagar, Jan 07 (Only Kashmir): The Hizbul Mujahideen has ordered its cadre not to kill any political worker but maim them particularly those who will contest in upcoming Panchayat Elections in Kashmir.
According to the sources, Hizb Commander Riyaz Naikoo has reportedly instructed cadres including Jaish-e-Muhammad not to kill any political worker but use “Concentrate Acid” and blind him/her who will contest upcoming Panchayat Elections.

Pertinent to mention here, a large number of have been demanding security in the wake of the spate of attacks in past years. The government, however, failed to do so saying it will involve a large number of personnel. The killing of a sarpanch by unknown gunmen sparked a series of resignations time to time by grassroots level public representatives, particularly in North and South Kashmir.
Pertinently, terming the Panchayat Elections ‘harmful for the national interests of Kashmiris’ the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik earlier appealed people of Kashmir to boycott Panchayat elections.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to hold Panchayat elections on non-party basis, adding, polls will be held next month and all arrangements are being made to ensure smooth elections.
The Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir State will be held from 15th February 2018. Officials say Panchayat elections will also be held on the pattern of 2011 but the number of wards is expected to increase. The elections could not be held in 2016 and 2017 due to unrest and political uncertainty in Kashmir valley. (OK)
