Kashmiri Girl students alleges high-handedness at Punjab University

Chandigarh, Feb 23 (KNB): At a time when J&K Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice, Abdul Haq is visiting different colleges and universities of country to ensure the safety and security and to get first hand appraisal of the facilities being provided to the Kashmiri students pursuing their studies, a news has come on forth that Kashmiri girl students at Desh Baghat University, Mandi Gobindgarh have alleged high-handed and torture type approach from their faculty.
Speaking to Kashmir News Bureau, a girl student of Desh Baghat University pleading anonymity said that all the girl students pursuing B.Sc Nursing have been declared surprisingly fail in 1st and 2nd year of the stream.
She said when the ‘failed’ students asked for rechecking of the papers amid deep shock they were asked to pay Rs 5000/- which is not only against varsity rules and regulations but also reflects the step motherly treatment with Kashmiri students outside the Kashmir.
The students told KNB, when they tried to held sit in protest over the discrimination melted with the Kashmiri girl students, the police was called in and as a result many girls felt unconscious , depressed and were later shifted to hospital.



The girl students further said that the officials of the Desh Baghat University also threatened them not to consult media, adding, that they have been in delibrate manner failed by the faculty and they openly say to them that you will be punished for being Kashmiris.
The students have appealed the JK Govt to intervene immediately to save them from this brutal treatment of faculty.
Despite repeated phone calls the Vice president of Desh Baghat University Mr. Sandeep Singh preferred not to pick phone. (KNB)
