Srinagar, Feb 25: Responding instantly to the emotional letter of a handicapped lady whose son is detained under Public Safety Act from last several years, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Sunday evening announced amnesty for Sheikh Danish Mushtaq of Bandipora. Pertinently, the letter had gone viral after a local reputed News agency Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) published it on behalf of the incarcerated youth’s mother.
The only hope of a handicapped mother to consider her son under amnesty announced by @MehboobaMufti will make her world beautiful again. Here is her mother speaks out purely on humanitarian grounds, tweets PDP Youth President Waheed Para while sharing the KNB story.
“In keeping with our commitments to dialogue & social inclusion, we have decided to consider amnesty for 23 year old Sheikh Danish Mushtaq, resident of Aloosa Bandipora,” Mehbooba tweets this evening.

In the letter mother of Danish has wrote “recently, I saw a ray of hope when you announced the amnesty for hundreds of youth, but later it deepened my wounds of separation after I found no name of my lone son Danish in the list.”
Thanking the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for announcing amnesty, Danish’s mother talking to KNB said that it was good to learn that Mehbooba ji recognized my pain of separation from child. She hoped that all other detainees will also be released on similar lines.

Not only Danish’s mother the PDP spokesman also thanked Chief Minister for grating amnesty to Danish, “Thank you Chief Minister @MehboobaMufti for fulfilling the wishes of a mother. Danish deserved a second chance at life as did many others who were granted amnesty by your government,” reads official twitter handle of PDP.
Meanwhile, voices have lauded the Kashmir News Bureau for bringing to fore the burning issues via power of pen.
“It is a wonderful development that an aged and ailing mother of Danish Mushtaq will be able to see her son once again and we also appreciate the powerful journalism of the Kashmir News Bureau in bringing such serious issue to attention,’’ reads a Facebook status of a netizen. (KNB)
