Bloodshed on the eve of New Financial Year in Kashmir disappoints tourism sector

Srinagar, April 02 (KNB): On a larger level March ending pressure boosts the possibility of celebrations of Fool’s day that falls on April 1 as such people play pranks and jokes to breathe a sigh of relief, however, in Kashmir the people on this particular day were busy in counting the dead bodies causing mayhem in Valley amid high expectations of a sound and prosper Financial year.
March the month of expectations had in Kashmir seen much bloodshed and April the month of hope has started too on a bloody note with the killing of seventeen Kashmiris including thirteen militants and excluding three Army personnel.



“The killing of 20 persons on a single day in Kashmir has undoubtedly send the signals outside world that all is not well, the Tulips and TAAI which ushered with pomp abd show can’t overcome the troubled situation, but an everlasting solution of the pertaining issues,” said Younis Ahmad a young entrepreneur.
“The bloody spring has resulted in a sharp decline in tourists this year too like in 2017 owing to the turbulent political situation, with just about 20-30 per cent occupancy in hotels and very few advance bookings even as the peak season has started,” said a hotelier, adding, the political uncertainty and continued violence leaves no scope for tourism sector.
“No doubt that Kashmir is safest place for the tourists, and tourism is important for state’s economy, contributing 8% to its gross domestic product, however, the courage to introduce the captivating beauty of Kashmir on political level is missing,” said a Mumbai based journalist currently in Kashmir for vacations.
Already the 2018 had begun on a disappointing note for traders and the people related to the tourism sector. But with the fresh killing spree particularly in south of Kashmir has once again exhibiting that until the resolution of political issues is not done the gory uncertainty will continue to knock the doors. There is high need to recognize the realities, address the issues that bedevil relations and this will really bring spectacular success. (KNB)
