Srinagar, April 26 (KNB): The second edition of a three-day Wular Lake International Short-Film Festival (WLISFF) Thursday begins at Degree College Baramaulla, north of Kashmir.
The festival will have an international section and competition section for students. The festival has been put together by Krack Production in collaboration with Degree College Baramaulla. Apart from films & documentaries WLISFF comprises of Photography & Screenplay competitions.
Majid Imtiyaz Director of WLISFF while speaking at the inaugural ceremony said the aim to organize the festival is to highlight the social issues pertaining to our society.
The organizers while talking to Kashmir News Bureau said out of 600 submissions 55 films from 60 countries will be screened, adding, an award ceremony will be held on the last day of the festival in presence of eminent personalities.
“The festival aims to provide platform to both independent & student Filmmakers, writers & photographers. WLISFF is a Festival dedicated to the talent of Children & Youth of our Valley. We also have a dedicated category for “Women Empowerment” as well.” Majid added.
Pertinently, WLISFF’s objective is to feature great cinema of worldwide Filmmakers in a big way & at the same time providing professional networking & introducing current trends of cinema to the participants. The festival goal is to empower independent & student filmmakers of the Valley to become premium movie going event which would foster the growth of emerging filmmakers, writers & photographers.
On the first day of the festival, some 500 people from different shades of like including students were present. (KNB)
