Srinagar, May 04 (KNB): Public Works Minister Naeem Akthar is among the senior politicians of the state and prominent voice, face of the ruling People’s Democratic Party , who was the spokesman of the party when it was in opposition.
Naeem Akthar is a vibrant strategic politician. Akhtar was elected to the Legislative Council on 7 March 2013 as a Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party candidate. In 2015, Akhtar was given the Education Ministry portfolio in the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed government. In September 2015, Akhtar installed a helpline number to his personal office to hear complaints from the stakeholders, namely parents, teachers and students concerned. He has also advocated for the separation of politics and education.

He was then made public works minister. The growing clout of PDP Workers, Party Supporters, analysts are calling that since many electoral battles are near the time has come for the party to ask a senior face like Naeem Akthar to relinquish the ministry and take active part in strengthening the party affairs and build more touch with party worker on ground zero.
A political analyst stated – “Naeem Akther considering the party needs and his own composure as politician does not look suited for the ministry job as he can contribute big way in strengthening the party by formulating effective strategy as PDP direly needs that . Time has come for PDP to ask Naeem Akthar to give away ministry and bring him in top role to formulate the policy and strategy of the party.”
If these voices turn into pragmatic we might soon see Naeem Akthar being dropped from ministry and given a senior policy maker role so that PDP gains its lost ground after it’s not so popular alliance with right wing BJP. (KNB)
