Kashmir based Editors’ delegation meets CM Mebooba Mufti

Srinagar, May 5 (Only Kashmir): A 15-member delegation of senior editor group from Kashmir on Saturday met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and apprised her about the issues related to the newspapers. The delegation was led by Editor daily Aftab, Zahoor Hashmi.

The editors’ group informed the CM about their charter of demands including new advertisement policy, newspapers categorization, fair distribution of advertisements, enhancement of budget for newspapers, and rate enhancement.

They apprised Mehbooba that her government had promised in Assembly that the advertisement rates would be hiked and unfortunately the commitment has not been fulfilled yet.



The delegation also urged the CM to make Directorate of Information and Public Relations Department more vibrant and free from any external interference.

The editors group said since the CM also heads the Information Department, she should address the issues of newspapers on priority basis.

Besides, others the meeting was also attended Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Information, and other officers of the Information Department.

The CM gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured to look into the issues raised by the editors.

She also directed Secretary Information Sarmad Hafeez, to be in touch with the editors and keep her posted about the measures taken to address issues raised by the delegation.
