DC Srinagar felicitates International Taekwando medalists

Srinagar, May 09 (Only Kashmir): Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Tuesday felicitated Mansha Bashir and Jehangir Ahmad Shah who represented the Indian national team and won gold and silver medals at the International Taekwondo Championship held last month in Malaysia.
Muzafar Sheikh from Kupwara who trains Taekwondo sportspersons at his MTC club at Rajbagh here and coached the Indian team for the championship was also felicitated by the DC on the occasion.
The DC lauded the sportspersons for brining laurels to the State and assured them of all possible assistance and promotion from the district administration.



Mansha who won the gold medal in the championship has previously won the silver middle at the 13th AU Taekwondo Championship Princess Cup held last year in Bangkok. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had sponsored her for the championship.
The achievement and her sports skills have won her selection for the World Taekwondo Federation Cup to be held in Australia. She is also the only Taekwondo sportsperson from the State to have been selected for the National Institute of Sports six-week certification course in Karela.
Dr. Shah while congratulating her said Mansha represents the immense potential and talent in girls in the State and urged one and all to encourage them in their sports and academic endeavours.
The three were also recently felicitated by the Union Sports Ministry in New Delhi upon returning from Kuala Lumpur. (OK)
