Srinagar, May 20 (Only Kashmir): Amid high security, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi arrived at a day’s visit to the Jammu and Kashmir State on Saturday wherein he inaugurated several central sponsored programmes and initiatives. He was received at the Leh airport by Governor, N N Vohra; Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti; Deputy Chief Minister, Kanvinder Gupta, Chief Secretary, B B Vyas; Director General of Police, Dr. S P Vaid; Executive Councillors; senior officers and a large number of people. Narendra Modi expressed happiness that he is visiting the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir today, adding, Jammu and Kashmir is going to get development projects worth Rs. 25,000 crore. These projects will have a positive impact on the people of the state, he added. Here are some of his activities during the visit:



FOUNDATION OF RS. 6809 CR ZOJILA TUNNEL:
Prime Minister Modi formally kickstarted commencement of work on the mega Zojila tunnel project. The 14.2 kilometre long tunnel would be constructed at a cost of Rs.6809 crore and would be completed in seven years. On its completion, the tunnel would lessen the travel time on Srinagar-Kargil-Leh road from 3.30 hours to just 15 minutes.
Addressing a large gathering on the occasion, the Prime Minister recalled the rich contribution of the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche. His was a life dedicated to serving others, the Prime Minister said.
He added that the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche distinguished himself as an outstanding diplomat. He mentioned that during his visit to Mongolia, he had witnessed first-hand, the goodwill he has in that country.
INAUGURATION OF 330 MW KISHENGANGA HYDRO ELECTRIC PROJECT AND FOUNDATION OF SEMI RING ROAD PROJECT FOR SRINAGAR CITY:
In Srinagar, at SKICC, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi inaugurated the 330 MW Kishenganga Hydro Electric Project which has come up at a cost of around Rs. 6000 crore.
He also laid the foundation of Semi Ring Road project for Srinagar city which is expected to cost Rs. around Rs. 2000 crore.
FOUNDATION OF 1000 MWS PAKAL DUL HEP, 52 KMS JAMMU SEMI RING ROAD PROJECTS
In Jammu, Prime Minister laid the foundation of 1000 MWs Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project. To be built in Kishtwar district, the project is expected to cost Rs. 8112 crore. He also laid the foundation of 58 kilometre Jammu Semi Ring Road project to be built at a cost of Rs. 2300 crore.
The Prime Minister also threw open 7 kilometre long Tarakote Marg at Katra built by Shri Mata Vaishno Shrine Board.
ADDRESSES 6TH SKUAST-J CONVOCATION
The 6th Convocation of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) was held at Baba Jitto Auditorium of the University.
During the Convocation, Prime Minister presented 6 Gold Medals; Chancellor awarded 55 Ph.D. degrees in Agriculture, Basic Sciences & Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, 85 Master’s degrees in Agriculture, Biotechnology and Agri Business Management, 77 Master’s degrees in Veterinary Science, 12 Master’s degrees in Basic Sciences, 124 Bachelor degrees in Agriculture and Biotechnology, 91 Bachelor degrees in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti, Pro Chancellor, presented 100 Certificates of Merit.
INAUGURATES TARAKOTE MARG AND MATERIAL ROPEWAY
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today formally inaugurated two important infrastructure development projects which have been completed by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.



The first is the Tarakote Marg between Katra and Adhkuwari for providing convenience to on-foot pilgrims. The other project is the Siar Dabri-Bhawan Material Ropeway. These projects were inaugurated at a function held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium at Jammu University today.
Later Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling it a day left for New Delhi from Jammu Technical Airport where besides Governor and Chief Minister several ministers and government officials sees off him.
