First Encounter after Ramadan Ceasefire: Three militants killed in South Kashmir

The slain militants were identified as Adil, Danish and Qasim. The third militant identified as Qasim is believed to be a Pakistani, all belonging to JeM.

Srinagar, June 19 (Only Kashmir): Amid a swirl of political activity in Jammu & Kashmir and New Delhi following the collapse of PDP-BJP government, three militants were killed in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district marking the first encounter after Ramadan Ceasefire. Besides five security forces personnel also sustained injuries in the encounter who have been hospitalized and all are stable.
A police spokesman in a statement to Onlykashmir[dot]in said, pursuing credible leads regarding the presence of militants in Hyena area of Tral area Army, CRPF and Police today afternoon jointly launched searches operation.


“As the searches were going on, militants fired on the joint search patrol of security forces, which was subsequently retaliated by the government forces leading to an encounter.”
In the encounter, all the three militants were successfully ‘neutralized’ by the security forces. The slain militants were identified as Adil, Danish and Qasim. The third militant identified as Qasim is believed to be a Pakistani, all belonging to JeM.
Police said that weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from the site of encounter. Police have registered a case in this matter and further investigation is going on.
Pertinently, the government of India on Sunday, 17 June, announced the decision of not extending the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir announced at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
