Biometric Row: Government Degree College Pulwama employees’ salaries halted

The teachers and the staff members of Government Degree College Pulwama in a communication stated that their salary for the month of July has been halted with the reasons ‘non-linkage of Adhaar Cards.’

Srinagar, Aug 03 (KNB): With Governor Administration hailing the implement of Biometric Attendance System in ensuring the punctuality, the employees of Government Degree College Pulwama have alleged stoppage of their salaries by the administration on the reasons ‘non-linkage of Adhaar Cards.’
The teachers and the staff members of Government Degree College Pulwama in a communication stated that their salary for the month of July has been halted with the reasons ‘non-linkage of Adhaar Cards.’
They said that treasury officials are demanding the linkage of Adhaar details with Deputy Commissioner’s office for release of salaries, adding, we are directly connected with Higher Education department as such there was no need to link Adhaar with Dy Commissioner’s office.



When Kashmir News Bureau contacted the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama G.M. Dar he assured that the matter will be resolved as early as possible, however, he maintained that linking of Adhaar is must to ensure smooth release of salaries.
Earlier, soon after the Governor’s rule in state, Governor N N Vohra made biometric attendance compulsory for employees to “ensure punctuality.
Though the imposition of Governor’s rule is mostly known as the result of the failure of constitutional machinery, like in Jammu and Kashmir where recently the coalition government collapsed, however, the rule has brought a significant development with attendee in government offices witnessing a sudden jump to 80% from 45% since the reinforced inception of the biometric system ordered on June 22 soon after the imposition of Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir state.
