Shopian, Oct 11 (Only Kashmir): A Hurriyat activist was shot dead on Thursday by unknown gunmen in an apple orchard here in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Witnesses said that unknown gunmen emerged in an orchard in Meemandar village where Hurriyat activist was present and shot him dead.
Locals identified the slain as Molvi Tariq Ahmed Ganaie who was currently affiliated with Masrat Aalam led Jammu Kashmir Muslim League.



Reports said that Tariq was an armed militant till 1996 and two month before he was released by government after two years detention.
A police official said that a case has been registered and investigation taken up. (OK)
