The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Tuesday issued notices to all the accused in Rubiya Saeed’s kidnapping case, the then Home Minister of India Mufti Muhammad Saeed’s daughter kidnapped in 1989.
A copy of the notice which lies with KNB  has asked all the 10 accused including Muhammad Yasin Malik, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Showkat Bakshi, and others to present themselves before the court on 26th of this month.

Pertinently, on 8 December 1989, Rubaiya the daughter of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, then the Home Minister of India in the V. P. Singh government was kidnapped for five days in Srinagar Lal Ded Memorial Women’s Hospital. The kidnappers demanded the release of thirteen militants in exchange for Rubaiya’s release. The then Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah did not want to capitulate. But the Central government accepted their demands and freed the jailed militants. In 1999 three JKLF members Showkat Ahmed Bakshi, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi and Mohammad Iqbal Gandroo were granted bail after 9 years in the case.
Speaking with Onlykashmir[dot]in, one of the accused, JKLF (H) Chairman Javaid Ahmad Mir said that this notice reflects that state is using the judiciary to pressurize the resistance leadership, adding, such tactics have neither cow-down the leadership in past and will nor in future. (OK)
