Srinagar, Feb 17 (Only Kashmir): Amid the widespread debate over the government’s decision to withdraw security cover of the separatist leaders in Kashmir, the BJP National General Secretary Ram Madav in an interview with a national news channel anchor has confessed that the main motive to provide security cover had many reasons including to keep a close vigil on their activities.
Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday issued orders to withdraw security of five separatist leaders, including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, officials said. Besides the Mirwaiz, the security cover for Shabir Shah, Abdul Gani Lone, Bilal Lone and Hashim Qureshi has been withdrawn, they said.
“There are various reasons for keeping certain security around them (separatists), you should know who they are meeting, what they are doing, and I can’t commit everything on camera,” Ram Madav said in an interview.

He further added, that having a certain reason to provide them security cover, today the situation has the reason. Without naming Syed Ali Geelani, the BJP General Secretary said, “one of them if you don’t confine them in his house he may go to around the state.
Meanwhile, commenting on the government’s decision of withdrawing ‘security cover’ the Hurriyat (M) spokesman in a statement said Hurriyat leaders had never asked for security, it was the government that insisted on keeping the personnel based on what they said was their assessment of threat perception, adding, today it’s their decision to remove it. It’s not an issue for us.
“Whenever the issue of ‘security cover’ has been made center stage the amalgam chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has repeatedly said from the pulpit of Jamia Masjid that the Government can withdraw it,” the statement reads.
