Srinagar, Feb 21 (Only Kashmir): Amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan after the Pulwama attack the murder of Pakistani inmate in India’s Jaipur Jail has further deteriorated relations between the two countries, while as the families of Kashmiri political prisoners lodged in different jails in India have expressed concern over their safety and are demanding to shift them back to Valley.
According to Jaipur police, 50-year-old Shakrullah, a Pakistani national belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was lodged in the Jaipur Central Jail and killed on Wednesday in a brawl with other prisoners. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO), Shakrullah was beaten to death by a group of Indian inmates in retaliation of the Pulwama incident.
The incident has seriously concerned the families of Kashmiri political prisoners lodged in different states of India and have appealed the authorities for their immediate shifting to Kashmir jails.

“Despite clear-cut directions from the Indian Supreme Court that prisoners be lodged to the jails closer to their homes, dozens of Kashmiri prisoners are shifted outside the State and are lodged in various parts of India today when even the Kashmiri students are not safe in India how can be the political prisoners,” says a relative of jailed separatist leader.
Expressing his concern over the safety of Kashmiri inmates, Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq took to the twitter stating, “After the condemnable killing of Pakistani prisoner by his inmates in #JaipurJail, Kashmiri inmates in jails across India are unsafe, their families are worried and demand their immediate shifting to Kashmir jails. Authorities should pay heed & do the needful to ensure their safety.”

Meanwhile, jailed separatist leaders in Tihar Jail have boycotted the Kashmir Bar Association against their ‘failure’ in providing legal aid to them.
Sources told Onlykashmir[dot]in, that a delegation of Kashmir Bar Association who is in New Delhi these days in view of the hearing of Article 35 A went to meet the jailed separatist leaders in Tihar Jail, however, as a mark of protest against their ‘failure’ in providing legal help, the leaders mostly arrested by NIA and ED refused to meet the Kashmir lawyers team.
