Kashmir’s Chief Cleric Mirwaiz asked to appear before NIA on Monday

On 26 Feb 2019, NIA carried out searches at 07 locations in Srinagar in connection with investigation of “J&K Terror Funding case.”

New Delhi, Mar 09 (Only Kashmir): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) issued a warrant against the Kashmir’s chief cleric and Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, two weeks after the probe agency raided the Nigeen residence of Mirwaiz.
“Whereas, it appears that you are acquainted with the circumstances of the case noted below, which is now under investigation by the NIA, New Delhi, you are hereby required to report before the undersigned at National Investigation Agency, Ministry of Home Affairs, Opposite CGO complex Lodhi Road, new Delhi on 11-02-2019 at 10:30 am for the purpose of your examination relating to the case,” said a notice, issued to the Mirwaiz by the NIA.
On 26 Feb 2019, NIA carried out searches at 07 locations in Srinagar in connection with investigation of “J&K Terror Funding case.”
Pertinently, the NIA had registered a case in an alleged funding case in 2017 under which many resistance leaders are Aftab Hilali Shah alias Shahid-ul-Islam, Ayaz Akbar Khandey, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karate, Nayeem Khan, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal, Bashir Ahmad Bhat alias Peer Saifullah and businessman Zahoor Watali have been detained in Tihar Jail New Delhi.
