CM Mehbooba’s statement signals pragmatic approach

Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNB): With Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti repeatedly urging India-Pakistan leadership to pave way for a discourse of harmony, peace and friendship is according to the political pandits a signal for Indo-Pak reconciliation process. The statements are coming at a time when there are reports of secret talks of NSA-level between the two countries.
Saying that the people of Jammu & Kashmir have been the worst victims of bitter relations between India and Pakistan, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday reiterated that the present acrimonious discourse between the two neighboring countries would give way to a discourse of harmony, peace and friendship.
Mehooba appealing to India to give up confrontation with Pakistan, saying it was the people of the state who were suffering due to the animosity between the two nations.



The political pundits suggest following the news reports of secret NSA-level talks between Indo-Pak these statements by the Chief Minister is a signal that two countries may have a dialogue process near in future to provide at least semblance of hope to the people of Kashmir.
Th separatist leaders are also repeatedly appealing India and Pakistan to forge cordial relation for the sake of the resolution of Kashmir issue, however, no concrete steps were seen
Pertinently, following the Prime Minister of India Narender Modi’s surprise visit and to Pakistan in 2015 had evoked a hope among masses that there may be talks over all lingering issues between Indo-Pak, however, till date nothing substantial came out.
“Former Prime Minister also wished to visit Pakistan, but did not dare to do so. PM Modi’s visit to Lahore is an indication of his strength and this can help the people of state in these troubling circumstances, these were the remarks of Mehbooba Mufti on Modi’s surprise visit.
“Though it was a genuine diplomatic effort to reinitiate the dialogue process and extremely important but however no tangible steps were taken to initiate a dialogue process. Now today, when Chief Minister is repeatedly urging both countries for dialogue process clearly, indicated a pragmatic approach,’ said Sajid Ahmad a netizen. (KNB)
