Onlykashmir.in aimed to get a view how many scars 2016 turmoil have left on Kashmir travelled to number of victim families to gauge the ground zero situation and sentiment. Among them, today under the title ‘Kashmir Crushed Dreams’ we bring another story of a family of Tengpora Batamaloo who witnessed helplessly the killing of their son Shabir Ahmad Mir inside their home.
On July 10, 2016 just two days after killing of Burhan Wani Kashmir saw cold blooded murder of Shabir Ahmad Mir from Tengpora in Batamaloo area of Srinagar, aged 21 year and according to family killed in alleged Jammu and Kashmir Police action.
Tears rolling down his mother’s cheeks welcomed the Onlykashmir.in team. His mother Shahzada in heartrending tone while describing her son as a pious, handsome human states – “We had just offered evening prayers and the martyred son had returned from work and after offering prayers was in his room. Suddenly, a police party headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Yasir Qadri appeared and barged into through our house, as the policemen had first shot my son with teargas as he opened window of his room and then after he was injured a masked policeman shot him at pointblank range as he was hiding probably behind fridge. They ransacked our whole house, broke all windows and my son who was bleeding like a sacrificial goat finally died in my arms. We then shouted and raised frantic cries but for several minutes nobody came to rescue. His younger brother was in mosque telling people to come out of house and informing them about raid but not knowing that his own brother stands martyred.”
Shahzada further added- “We have proceeded further to launch cases against killer cops and the case is in the Supreme Court. My entire world stands destroyed by these so called Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir Police.”
Shabir’s sister Ruqaya states – “ They tried to even kill my father as the cops from Jammu and Kashmir Police were on rampage and even one of the cop kept his pistol in my mouth for several minutes. My brother’s martyrdom has made our life meaningless.”
Ironically, Shabir’s family members describe him totally a non-political chap who had never in his life took part in any protest and would just concentrate on his job and offered prayers five times a day .
On August 18 on the directions of Supreme Court the body of Shabir Ahmad Mir was exhumed and an autopsy was conducted in the backdrop of the claim made by the victim’s father, Abdul Rehman Mir of Tengapora Batamaloo that the police officer Yasir Qadri (DSP) had shot dead his son in their house.
