The Quantity of rice for distribution to a common Kashmiri as per the norms of National Food Security Act has been fixed to 166 gm per day, i.e 5 Kgs of rice to a single soul per month. On the other hand a normal pigeon eats 135 gm of food in form of corn etc per day. Pertinent to mention here the food production in Kashmir is less than 22% as per the basic need or demand. Medical experts suggest that a normal man need almost 400 gm of food per day, however the new law NFSA gives subsidy of only 166 gm per day which is only 31 gm more than the food a pigeon eats per day and equal to the size of Amul Chocolate.
