Two militants killed in outskirts of Srinagar city at Khunmoh

Srinagar, Mar 16 (KNB): The gunfight which raged in Khunmoh area of outskirts summer capital Srinagar city on Thursday evening between government forces and the militants who earlier attacked policemen guarding a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist has resulted in the killing of two militants and injuries to a CRPF personnel. The two slain militants were identified by the families as Rasiq Nabi Bhat of Tral and Shabir Dar of Awantipora.



According to the police spokesman, two dead bodies of militants along incriminating materials which include weapon and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and investigation has been taken up. As per police records the slain militants Rasiq and Shabir had joined militancy last year in the month of March and August respectively. During the initial firing, a CRPF personnel sustained bullet injuries and was shifted to 92 Base Hospital for treatment. He is stated to be stable.
The slain duo before getting trapped fired upon the PSOs of BJP based political activist Dr Anwar Khan while the latter was visiting Arsh institute at Khonmoh area in the outskirts of Srinagar city. The Security forces soon after the attack has cordoned off the whole area and started search operation during which 2-3 militants are trapped.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and investigation has been taken up.
Pertinently, three militants including Eesa Fazli of Srinagar, Syed Owais of Kokernag and were killed on Sunday night in an encounter Hakoora area of Anantnag district.
