Srinagar, Dec 11 (Only Kashmir): In a bid to loot the cash carrying a vehicle of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, the suspected militants on Monday killed the two Bank guards in Shopian district of South Kashmir on Monday.
The slain duo has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad R/O Anantnag 30yrs and Tariq Ahmad R/O Thumlehall 25 yrs.
According to police officials the vehicle they were traveling came under attack at Kralcheck village of Shopian.
Soon after the attack the injured Bank guards were shifted to Pulwama district hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
On May 2017, the Hizb militants killed seven people, including five policemen, after dragging them out of a cash delivery van of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Kulgam district.
Pertinently, following after the demonetization in November 2016, militants had looted several branches of J&K Bank in Budgam and South Kashmie districts. The incidents led authorities to enhance the security for bank branches especially in rural areas of the Kashmir Valley.
