Annual Urs of Dastgeer Sahib Concludes

Srinagar, Jan 05: The annual Urs of Sufi Saint Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA) concluded on Friday while thousands of devotees amid bone chilling cold offered congregational Friday prayers at Khanyar Srinagar.
Braving cold, thousands of people Friday thronged the shrine of revered shine of Hazrat Peer DastgeerSahib (RA) at Khanar Srinagar that culmination ceremony of annual Urs that marked a series of special prayers and lectures and preaches on the life of Hazrat Jeelani. This year Kashmir’s Chief Cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was barred by the authorities to deliver sermon at Shrine.



With massive gatherings at the saint’s shrine in Khanyar Srinagar, Kashmir special nightlong prayers at the shrine of Hazrat DastgeerSahib (RA) were offered, marked by the display of the saint’s relics.
The gathering in Khanyar Srinagar was the largest in the valley which observes the occasion with high devotion and respect for eleven days every year according to the Hijri calendar. (KNB)
