State observes Mufti Sayeed’s anniversary, Mehbooba for Indo-Pak amity, many projects kick-started

Srinagar, Jan 04 (Only Kashmir): The Jammu and Kashmir state government on Sunday observed the 2nd death anniversary of erstwhile Chief Minister of state Mufti Muhammad Sayeed during which several developmental and welfare projects in the State were kick-started. Mufti’s successor and current CM Mehbooba Mufti on this day advocated cordial relations between India and Pakistan.
To mark the second death anniversary of the former Chief Minister of State, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, the Government today kickstarted several developmental and welfare projects in the State which includes, ambitious mini secretariat building at Batamalloo at a cost of Rs. 100 crore, new facilities at the SKIMS and inauguration of the 118 metre span pedestrian bridge near Presentation Convent at Rajbagh over river Jhelum built at a cost of Rs. 11.40 crore.

Earlier, CM Mehbooba Mufti Addressing a huge gathering of people at the mausoleum of late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed appealed the leadership of both the countries to take measures for betterment of mutual relations which would consequentially reduce acrimony, violence and lead to an atmosphere of friendship between the two neighbours.

“For how long should humanity be let to bleed. The leadership of both the countries should rise to the occasion and change the hate mongering between the two people into a peace narrative”, she said in her address.
Paying rich tributes to late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, the Chief Minister said he was the architect of a vision and mission whose sole objective was to get Jammu & Kashmir out of the miseries of times and give its people prosperous and peaceful times.
Mehbooba Mufti, on the occasion, also outlined the measures taken by her Government for the welfare of the people. She said she fulfilled the promise of withdrawal of cases against youth and regularisation of 60 thousand casual and daily rated workers. She said she has secured adequate financial assistance from the centre which would change the developmental scenario in the State and create huge employment opportunities. But, she cautioned, it all requires a peaceful atmosphere. Many works, she added, could not be executed in 2016 due to unrest and unfortunately the funds got lapsed.
Amid the presence of members of the council of Ministers, MPs, legislators, senior officers and a large number of people had come to Dara Shikoh Park to offer fateha to their leader, Mehbooba led the people of the State in offering fateha and also paid floral tributes.

Meanwhile, while paying rich tributes to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on his 2nd death anniversary at a commemoration function here at Gandhi Nagar Jammu, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs & Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said a leader is born, a politician is also born but a statesman is born in Centuries and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was a statesman whose demise has created void in the state’s political arena. He said the biggest tribute to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is to carry forward his mission of peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue and friendship with neighbors.
