Srinagar, Mar 25 (Only Kashmir): Organized by Science Teachers Association in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar (New Delhi), Astronomical Society of India (ASI), Directorate of School Education and SPEAK NGO A two-day workshop on Astronomy and Sky Observations concluded here today at Media Complex Srinagar.
Resource persons from Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education, Mumbai and Astronomical Society of India threw light on the subject and highlighted the importance of knowledge of astronomy, Telescope optics and sky observations.
Dr Ankiet Sule, Secretary International Olympiad Association and also a member of Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education said the teachers here need to develop an interest in astronomy.
Chairperson Science Teachers Association, Dr Seemin Rubab said “more teachers need to come forward and participate in these types of workshops to have sound knowledge in the interesting subject.”
She added that the workshop was conducted with the aim to train teachers in the state so that they can impart training of handling of the telescope and teach sky observation to the budding astronomers here.
Commissioner Secretary, Relief, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Talat Parvez while addressing the function said that Science subject should be made popular in educational curriculum.
Director School Education, Kashmir Dr. G.N.Itoo also addressed the concluding function.
Pertinently the workshop was attended by Science teachers from both Jammu and Kashmir divisions besides astronomy enthusiasts. A sky observation session was also held for the teachers.
