Srinagar, April 03 (KNB): The Joint Resistance Leaders Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday in separate handouts hailed the statements of Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) and United Nations (UN) over Kashmir situation.
Hailing the statement of OIC General Secretary Yousuf A. Al-Othaimeen, wherein he has called India to allow access to the OIC’s Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission in Kashmir, Geelani said there is dire need to represent the aspirations of Kashmir and Palestine issues in their right perspective, saying instead of issuing mere statements, we should take practical and effective measures.
OIC has a greater and pivotal role in international politics, asserted Geelani and stressed OIC authorities to play its assigned and outstanding role in resolving the issues related to Kashmir, Palestine and other issues facing Muslim Ummah.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq the chairman of moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference took to the Twitter to welcome the statement of UN, he stated, “UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres statement of concern over the killings in #Kashmir is welcome but of little consolation to the people facing brutal oppression and eagerly waiting for the UN to intervene and impress on Govt of India to stop the genocide & address the dispute.”
Pertinently, the statement of OIC and UN comes after a day 13 local militants, 4 civilians and 3 Army personnel were killed on Sunday in different encounters in south Kashmir areas of Shopian and Anantnag. The mayhem triggered protests in many parts of the Valley resulting injuries to hundreds of people in clashes between protestors and government forces. (KNB)
