Srinagar, April 05 (KNB): The notorious pellet havoc has again returned back to shattering dreams of the people of Kashmir mostly youth. Dozens of youth have been injured in pellet indiscriminate firing by forces on Sunday in South Kashmir bringing back the bitter memories of 2016 unrest in which hundreds of people including men and women mostly teenagers lost their precious eye sight completely.
Although for the past few months the cases of pellet injuries to eyes had gone down after the summer of 2016 that was referred to as ‘season of dead eyes’, the pellet injuries being reported in Srinagar hospitals for the past few days have again brought the focus on lethal weapons.
On Sunday, at least 40 people were injured by pellets in Shopian, four of them having serious eye injuries and currently being treated at SMHS Hospital.
“The excessive use of pellet gun and legalizing this inhuman tool of barbarism to naked aggression by putting forever the life of people in dark just because they protest clearly indicates that there is need for the ruling class to envisaging the real view of politics,” said a doctor pleading anonymity at SMHS hospital while talking to Kashmir News Bureau.
Despite the repeated appeals from the several quarters of Human Rights Organizations and political parties even from those who are presently driving the ruling dispensation in Jammu Kashmir the pellet remains to continue to create havoc.
Pertinent to mention here Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has announced to reward the people who will suggest alternatives to the controversial pellet guns.
Additional Director General (ADG) of the CRPF VSK Kaumudi said the force is open to any suggestion for any alternatives to the pellet guns. (KNB)
