Srinagar, April 25 (KNB): Eminent Islamic studies scholar and social activist Prof. Hamid Naseem Rafiabadi and Writer activist Mushtaq Ul Haq Sikander Wednesday resigned from Islamic Rrelief and Research trust (IRRT) Kashmir from their posts Director and Executive Director respectively. The duo has been associated with IRRT for more than a decade in different capacities.
In a handout issued to media, the duo stated that due to their personal engagements they have resigned from the honorary posts that they were holding voluntarily.
When contacted Mushtaq Sikander stated that “It has been a long association with IRRT but due to personal and academic engagements I can’t continue it further, adding, the leadership of the trust is in good hands so my resignation will not impact the working of the trust.
It is pertinent to mention that IRRT runs various widow welfare programs, orphanages and scholarships for students.
While as Prof. Rafiabadi has said , “After joining IRRT as honorary director in 2001 I made the Trust vibrant and secondly I convinced many well meaning people to get associated with it and we conducted several seminars and workshops on social issues provided relief to needy, arranged Arabic and methodology classes for the male and the female students. We had given the proposal of establishing an Arabic medium University and had submitted a phase wise planning map for its establishment from Primary classes to a college initially”. (KNB)
