Police refutes reports of ‘manhandling’ Yasin Malik, says he created obstruction in our duty

Srinagar, April 28 (Only Kashmir): The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday refuted the allegations wherein it was said that a Police team at Khanyar assaulted JKLF Chief Yasin Malik when he was on his way towards Jamia Masjid for addressing a rally.
“Facts pertaining to the situation are that a team from police station Khanyar was on a routine Naka duty when at around 12:10PM today afternoon a Sedan Car Honda CRV bearing registration No DL3C AK 2197 was intercepted by the naka party. The travellers inside the car were requested to produce the registration papers of the said car.”
“The travellers inboard which included JKLF Chief Yasin Malik and Bashir Kashmiri instead of producing papers created obstruction in the lawful duty,” said a police spokesman, adding, in this connection Police has initiated action under relevant provision of law.



Earlier a JKLF spokesman in a statement said, “Police near Gousia hospital Khanyar stopped the vehicle that Yasin Malik was driving and eyewitnesses said that straightaway S.P. of police Mr. Sajad started showering choosiest abuses on JKLF chairman and whole resistance movement. He was endlessly calling resistance camp as terrorists and threatening to kill them all. JKLF chairman objected to his misbehavior and asked him to show some restraint but there was no stopping to his Gundagardi (Hooliganism). He ordered his uniformed soldiers to attack on Yasin Malik and obliging their seniors’ order police men assaulted on JKLF chairman, injured him and virtually dragged him to police station Khanyar from where he along with another JKLF leader Bashir Kashmiri have been shifted to police station Kothibagh.”



“Strongly condemn police assault, manhandling and arrest of JKLF chief #YasinMalik by police when he was on way to #JamaMasjid to take part in a peaceful protest against unabated killings of Youth , use of force on student and continuous illegal arrests of leaders by NIA,” Tweets Hurriyat (M) Chairman soon after JKLF statement came into loght.
