Srinagar, May 02 (Only Kashmir): A teenager identified Umar Kumar was killed in alleged government forces action following bullets and pellets were used to disperse the protestors who had come to help militants in escape at encounter site in Turkawangam village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.
Witnesses said that a large number of youth hit to roads and clashed with deployed forces amid heavy exchange of fire between government forces and militants. Forces retaliated with bullets and tear-smoke shells when youth pelted stones on them. Witnesses added that four persons one of them critically suffered injuries and had been hospitalized among them one 17-yrs-old Umar Kumar of Pinjora succumbed to his injuries.
The trapped militants, believed to be three in number, later managed to escape the encounter site following a mammoth protest by the locals.
Latest reports said that a multilayer cordon has been extended in Turkwangam and adjacent villages while flashlights have been installed across these villages.(OK)
