Youth succumbs to injuries after mowed by CRPF vehicle, police registers rash driving case

Srinagar June 02 (KNB): In second of its kind incident this year, a youth hailing from Dalgate area of Srinagar was crushed to death by a government forces vehicle during protests at Downtown Old City.
Pertinently, three youth were injured, after they were hit by a CRPF vehicle during clashes in Nowhatta area of Srinagar soon after the Friday congregation prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar.
Among the three injured persons one individual identified as Kaiser Ahmad Bhat (21) of Fatah Kadal presently Dalgate succumbs to his injuries at SKIMS during the intervening night of Friday-Saturday.
The deceased is survived by two sisters aged 16 & 18. The siblings had shifted their aunt’s place in Dalgate four years earlier following the demise of their parents.



Meanwhile, thousands of people participated in the funeral of Kaiser amid anti-India and pro-freedom sloganeering. Clashes between mourners and government forces were also reported in Old City. Kaiser was later laid to rest at Martyrs graveyard Eidgah Srinagar amid sobs and tears.
Besides curfew-like restrictions in parts of Srinagar city, the authorities suspended mobile internet service to maintain what they say law and order.
Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case of rash-driving against the CRPF for mowing down a youth during protests in Nowhatta area of Downtown Srinagar yesterday besides a case of rioting FIR No 18/2018 u/s 307,148,149,152,336,427 RPC and FIR No 19/2018 U/s 279 (rash driving), 337 RPC.
