Pulwama: Two cops killed in attack during holiest night

Srinagar, June 12 (KNB): In a tragic episode on eve of holy night Shab e Qadar, two policemen were killed on Tuesday in a militant attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The militants launched an attack on the police guards at the Pulwama court complex.
“Two policemen were killed and one was injured in this attack. The militants escaped with the service rifles of the victims,” the police said.



Official sources stated that a group of militants opened fire upon the police post resulting in on spot death of two security guards and injury to another at Takiya Wagam opposite to Government Degree College Pulwama near Barpora Kareemabad.
The injured cop Manzoor Ahmad has been shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment, they said.
The deceased cops have been identified as Selection Grade Constables Ghulam Rasool and Ghulam Hassan. Tuesday’s attack took place on the holiest Muslim night of ‘Shab-e-Qadr’ when devotees in the pray for penance and peace.
Pertinently, last year on the occasion of holy night Shab e Qadar a senior Police officer was allegedly lynched to death by a mob at Nowhatta Old City Srinagar. (KNB)
