Pulwama, June 20: A family from South Kashmir Wednesday appealed authorities to release their sole bread earner son who has been languishing in Kathua Jail under contentious Public Safety Act.
Zaheer Ahmed Lone, the father of two little kids, who hails from Inder village of Pulwama district was lodged at SOG Camp for 45 days last year. After that, he was booked under PSA and shifted to Kathua Jail.
His mother told a local news agency that Zaheer was released after Jammu Kashmir High Court quashed his PSA. “He had set up a restaurant at Lassipora Pulwama. Before the month of Ramadhan, he was called by police station Pulwama and was kept in illegal detention for a month. We were expecting his release on the eve of Eid but instead he was again booked under PSA and yet again shifted to Kathua Jail,” she said.
“Our family is dependent upon him. He is neither a militant nor a stone-pelter. It is a sheer harassment. We appeal Director General of Police and IGP to look into the matter and pave way for his release,” the mother of incarcerated youth said.
