Police summons teachers for pushing students towards militancy

Srinagar, Jul 17 (KNB): The Jammu and Kashmir Police have summoned 13 teachers for their alleged involvement in pushing students towards militancy. Reports said that Police have also urged state administration to cancel the registration of school maintaining legal ethics.
Reports reaching Kashmir News Bureau, that the police in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district recently summoned 13 teachers of a private school to a police station to “counsel them” following concerns that they were encouraging students to join the militancy. The police came to action soon after a video went viral on social media showing the students “acting like militants.”



Sources said that following the formal counseling 11 out 13 teachers were allowed to go home whereas 2 teachers were kept in custody after some objectionable content was found from their possession, sources added that no First Information Report (FIR) was lodged so far in the case.
The district police led by SSP Imtiyaz Mir while taking cognizance of the video has asked the district administration to cancel the school’s registration if the law permits it.
The Chief Education Officer Baramulla Abdul Ahad Gania said that his department has initiated an investigation into the matter, adding, stern action will be taken against the school, if found guilty.
Pertinently, the rising militancy in Kashmir particularly soon after the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani in 2016 has emerged as a major concern for government forces with every other day trigging encounters between local armed youths and forces. The encounters also led the killing of civilians causing uncertainty Valley wide. (KNB)
