Srinagar, Jul 20 (KNB): The mysterious and brutal killing of a Kupwara boy has surprised not only the people of northern district of Jammu and Kashmir but also has sent shocking waves across the state with distorted body picture of the boy taking rounds on social media.
Pertinently, the half-burnt body of Umar Farooq (11) with a chopped arm, was recovered from a nallah on Thursday evening, three days after he was reported missing.
Though the Jammu and Kashmir Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the death of the minor, however, a complete shutdown is being observed in Kupwara town and other adjoining areas against the mysterious and brutal death of a minor. Amid shutdown the district administration has ordered the closure of degree college Kupwara and Sogam.
Reports reaching Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) Ghulam Mohiudin, a constable of district special branch (DSB) was injured after he was thrashed by youth protesting the death of the minor during overnight protests in Batergam village of the district.
Pertinent to mention here, the distorted death body of Umar Farooq (11) of Gulgam Kupwara was found in an orchid days after he had gone missing from his house. Umar is the lone brother of seven sisters and was killed brutally with one of his arms was chopped and the body was sprayed with acid.
With the recovery of the dead body, Police constituted a SIT to be headed by the ASP Kupwara and supervised by the District SSP Kupwara to investigate it. Police has also sought cooperation of general public for completion of investigation.
Meanwhile, on social media people expressed deep shock over the brutal death of Umar Farooq, terming it murder of humanity.
MLA Langare Sheikh Abdul Rasheed appealed masses not to forget that the murder of Umar Farooq which has exposed many bitter and shameful realities about our society and said that we all need to introspect as a nation that why are we turning worst than the beasts and why is human life loosing value day by day.
“My good! I can’t believe how this innocent angel can be treated like this, but one thing is certain whoever did this cannot be human. This is not a handiwork of humans, it is done by devils,” said one of the residents of Gulgam, Mehraj Pir. (KNB)
