Srinagar, Jul 27 (KNB): The menace of stray dogs has become a cause of major concern for the locals of Alochi Bagh Srinagar. 4 persons were reportedly bitten by stray dogs in Khan Mohalla area of Alochi Bagh near Bilal Masjid.
The locals said that the appeals made to the concerned authorities in this regard seems fall on deaf ears, adding, during the last week 4 persons including a minor was chased away by the dogs.
“The growing population of stray dogs has become a major concern of the locals, today morning stray dog bite my minor son and I am not alone, recently stray dogs bite four persons of the area,” Muhammad Yaqoob a local resident said.
“These dogs have made the life hell, particularly for women and old age persons,” they said and appealed authorities to take measures in this regard.
The locals alleged that Srinagar Municipal Corporation takes no steps to relieve them from dog menace.
The inhabitants said that it seems that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation is unaware of various laws regarding how to check the growth of stray dogs, even after making several complaints by residents to the authorities nothing much has changed.
Pertinently, the High Court in March this year directed Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) to provide required finance assistance to Srinagar Municipal Corporation for controlling the menace of stray dogs in the summer capital. (KNB)
