Beopar Mandal Mahraj Gunj hold protest rally in defense of Article 35-A

Srinagar, Aug 04 (KNB): Srinagar’s historical trade organization Beopar Mandal Srinagar on Saturday carried out a protest rally in defense of Article-35 A.
The protests led by Beopar Mandal President Khurshied Ahmad Dalal were holding placards, traders raised slogans against the alleged “conspiracy for the removal of Article 35A” that grants special privileges to the permanent residents of J&K and bars others from purchasing land in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Khurshied Ahmad Dalal stated “We won’t allow anyone to snatch political as well as social rights of Jammu and Kashmir people. He said it is our duty and responsibility to raise our voice against the threat of Article 35-A aimed to change the demography state.”



“We urge Government of India that the case for abrogation of Article 35A filed in the Supreme Court of India be dismissed forthwith. The original state subjects will in no case accept any effort if made at any level for change of demography of the state,” stated a young trader Yasir Jeelani on the occasion.
“Divesting the people of Jammu and Kashmir from their constitutional rights and privileges, making changes in its demography and tarnishing the cultural identity of Kashmiri people will be resisted tooth and nail,” said an official of Beopar Mandal Mazoor Sofi.
Pertinently, cutting across the religious lines, the protest rally was attended by jointly Muslims and Hindu traders. The protest rally from interiors of Old City Srinagar started from historic Mahraj Gung and concluded peacefully at Saraf Kadal. (KNB)
