Srinagar, Aug 06 (KNB): The patients and attendants as well have been exposed to risk of acute infection of Kashmir valley’s largest hospital Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura.
One of the attendants Tanveer Ahmad at SKIMS Nephrology and Neurology ward told Kashmir News Bureau on phone that due to the construction work the patients especially who went through the surgeries have been put on risk.
“The dust coming out from the renovation and construction working including tile flooring, coloring not only puts the life of patients on risk but also is also affecting the attendants,” Tanveer added.
Pertinently, Ward 4 of SKIMS, the Department of Nephrology is the only tertiary care centre for kidney diseases in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. It is a centre where all the known renal replacement therapies transplantation, hemodialysis (HD) and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis is provided to the patients of kidney disease.
When Kashmir News Bureau took the matter with SKIMS Medical Superintendent, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Jan he stated that we are putting our efforts to lower the attendance of patients and attendants during construction and renovation. He assured that patients will be shifted to other wards during renovation. (KNB)
