Srinagar, Aug 16 (KNB): In a bid to curbing the menace of Drug abuse in the Valley, Centre for Youth Development (CYD) a Srinagar based social organination Thursday organized a workshop with the teachers of different Government and private school teacher under ZEO Hawal at Greenland Higher Secondary School Kohimaraan Hawal with the support of Directorate of School education.
During a workshop teachers were sensitized about the ill effects of drugs, Signs and symptoms and the treatment facilities available at different corners of the valley.
The chairman (CYD) Imtiyaz Ahmad Chasti said that we will be doing the series of awareness and sensitization camps/programs across the valley to cover the prevention and awareness of drug abuse.
The program was started at 11 AM with an inaugural and introductory speech by the chairman (CYD) Imtiyaz Chasti followed by sensitization and awareness speeches by Dr Waris from Department of psychiatry, GMC, Srinagar. Mr. M. Ashraf Sr. Counselor from De-Addiction Centre, PCR, Srinagar and Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Dariyal from Downtown Coordination Committee.
Recently released “Drug Abuse Prevention Guide” published by CYD was on the occasion distributed among participants. The teachers and rest of the audience appreciated the program and the efforts of CYD for bringing a positive change in the society. (KNB)
