Govt imposes ban on sale & bursting of firecrackers in Srinagar

In a significant development the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rasheed has ordered blanket ban on the sale and bursting of firecrackers within the territorial jurisdiction of district Srinagar.

Srinagar, Oct 10 (Only Kashmir): Breathing a sigh of relief the residents of Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital city Srinagar have hailed the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rasheed for ordering ban on bursting of firecrackers.
In a significant development the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rasheed has ordered blanket ban on the sale and bursting of firecrackers within the territorial jurisdiction of district Srinagar.



The orders have been issued to ensure the safety of life and property of the general public.
It has been further stated that anybody found involved in the sale and bursting of fire crackers shall be booked within the purview of the relevant law.
The Senior Superintendent of Police has also been directed to implement the order in letter and spirit.
Pertinently, marriages, apart from being colorful and decorative, are now falling prey to the unstoppable bursting of fire crackers. People are unable to differentiate between bursting of fire crackers and bullet sounds. (OK)
