Srinagar, Oct 23 (Only Kashmir): A youth hailing from Tengpora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) on charges of his alleged involvement in stone pelting.
According to the family sources of the arrested youth Zahoor Ahmad Dar of Tengpora, police arrested their beloved along with other youth of the area on 1st October 2018 ahead of ULB elections, after 17 days of detention in local police station, Zahoor was shifted to Jammu jail under ‘draconian law’ PSA. Zahoor has been booked under PSA, family said, adding that police claimed that they have been arrested on the charges of stone pelting.
Earlier, at least five youth were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) by Jammu and Kashmir Police in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district over the charges of stone pelting. Pertinently, authorities placed several youths including pro-freedom leaders and activists under detention ahead of ULB polls.
