Srinagar 11 Dec: According to reports, Kashmir has witnessed the highest number of the casualties this year. 2018 turned to be the bloodiest year of the decade. The killing continue with around 413 persons killed this including militants, civilians, as well as the security personals.
According to the home ministry data, casualties include 223 Militants, 77 civilians, and 80 security personals. Among the armed forces, 41 were police personals, including the 9 SPO, 31 army personals, and 9 paramilitary forces were killed in the state the report said.
Out of the 223 militants killed 93 were foreigners, while 81 of the militants were killed during last 80 days since local body and panchayat elections were announced on September 15. Apart from having a record number of militants killings since June 19 when the state was placed under the governor rule as compared to the preceding period under PDP-BJP government this year, many top militant commanders were accounted for by the security forces. These include top Lashkar commander Naveed Jatt ,Jaish sniper Usmaan Haider and Hizbul Mujahideen commander Altaf Ahmad Dar” the report said.
The number of the civilian casualties has shot up to 77 from 40 in last year 2017. Among those 59 civilians were killed during protests near encounter site while as other 35 civilians killed were suspected as the over ground workers (OWG) or informers of armed forces and political workers were killed by unknown gunmen.
Meanwhile the militant related incidents has rose to 429 from 342 last year. The figure reflects increased attacks mounted by militants. Explaining the higher of number of militant related incidents this year a security officer said, there were clear attempt to disrupt the local bodies and panchayat polls in the state.’’
The security official requesting anonymity said ‘’the political dispute needs to be solved and figured out as it leads to war and destruction in the state of jammu and Kashmir and as well as to security forces. The grave human rights violations should be stopped’’. (KNB)
