In memory of deceased Cricketer Jahangir War tournaments to be organized annually in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 13 (Only Kashmir): The Governor administration has announced to organize Cricket Tournaments every year in every district in memory of Cricketer Jahangir War (18) who died a day before after he was hit on his neck when he was batting during a match between Baramulla and Budgam under-19 teams.
The under-19 tournament was being organized by youth services and sports department.
Advisor to Governor K Vijay Kumar accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, and Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafiz visited the Tangpora Pattan to console the family of young cricketer Jahangir Ahmad War who died during a cricket match organized in Anantnag district.
Advisor expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow over the demise and handed over a cheque worth Rs 5 lakh to the bereaved family. The cash compensation was announced by Governor Satya Pal Malik.Advisor on the occasion announced to organize Cricket Tournaments every year in every district in memory of Cricketer Jahangir War who died a day before during a cricket match organised in Anantnag district.
Meanwhile, tribute was paid to the slain cricketer Jahangir Ahmad War in Anantnag during a condolence meeting held at Sports Stadium Anantnag before the commencement of today’s matches in which District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Anantnag Noor Ul Haq Andrabi, ZPEO Anantnag, Technical officials, field Staff, members of Activity Section DYSSO Anantnag, besides the players of U 17 Baramulla and Anantnag were present.
Two minutes silence was observed and Fateh khawani was also held for the departed soul.
The players had tied black bands on their shoulders as a mark of respect during the game. It was also decided that the closing ceremony of the tournament would be observed in a simple way.
