Srinagar, April 05 (Only Kashmir): The government on Sunday confirmed that there is no dearth of medical equipment in Jammu and Kashmir to tackle the threat of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Health and Medical Education (H&ME) said that number of ventilators in J&K is 223 currently, of which 91 are in Jammu and 132 in Kashmir and 400 more ventilators have been ordered and are being commissioned shortly.
The statement said that there is absolutely no dearth of logistics and equipment and sufficient buffer stock of PPE, Masks and other protection gear is available both at Srinagar and Jammu.
“However, keeping in view the civic efforts of various NGOs and Civil Society groups certain amount of donations have been received as a good will gesture which are appreciable,” as many as 8893 reagents are available for use in Jammu and Kashmir which are being augmented further, it added.
Timely establishment of COVID-19 hospitals
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has established timely COVID-19 hospitals—which are working round the clock and performing sample testing swiftly.
Director, Health Services Kashmir, Dr Samir Mattoo said that the Government established eight hospitals in Kashmir and three in Jammu—exclusively for COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, the Government Sunday informed that 14 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), all from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 106.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 106 positive cases, 100 are Active Positive, 04 have recovered and 02 have died.
