Srinagar, Jul 02 (Only Kashmir): With the ouster of its two trustees, Kashmir Women’s Collective (KWC) was today dissolved, a rebel member and the co-founder of group announced here on Social Media.

Popularly known for raising women rights and gender-based violence issues, Kashmir Women’s Collective (KWC) has been dissolved following the two trustees, Subreen Malik (Co-founder) and Arshie Qureshi, resigned from Kashmir Women’s Collective last month.


“In the light of certain recent actions undertaken by individuals under the name of the Kashmir Women’s Collective, this is to inform the general public that KWC no longer exists as a legal entity and the use of this name is misleading,” Subreen Malik wrote on her Facebook profile.

Pertinently, Kashmir Women’s Collective formed in 2017, as an initiative to work towards a society where women feel safe and empowered in and outside of their homes had been vocal in raising many women related issues in Jammu and Kashmir.

The group earlier took a lead in global #MeToo movement, which triggered an online controversy after many accused strictly denied the allegations. The group in collaboration with many other NGOs held several seminars and symposiums on topics of Violence against women, property rights of women, domestic violence against women, and issues related to divorce and its consequences, besides, raising voice for transgender.
