New Delhi, Jul 28: Taking a cue from former Chief Minister of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also reportedly demanded “Statehood” for India’s national capital.
Pertinently, Omar Abdullah on Monday in an op-ed published on a non-local newspaper stated “While J&K remains a Union Territory, I will NOT contest assembly elections.”
Hailing the rigid stand of Omar Abdullah towards central government Kejriwal said, “Omar has chosen a tougher option as a condition to participate in elections. He said his stand reflects his valor and courage.
Kejriwal further appealed other parties of Jammu and Kashmir, including PDP, Apni Party, JKPC, JKPM and other to take a lead from Omar’s stand and follow the suit.
The Delhi Chief Minister also congratulated Omar Abdullah for becoming the first leader to break the silence among other leaders. He said by the statement of Omar Abdullah the statehood which until was taboo in political circles in central government is now seems not far away.
He said not demanding the restoration of Article 370 and 35A needs a vision to understand and must be a part of tougher stand adopted by Omar Abdullah. Kejriwal hoped in next elections National Conference will surely be victorious because of his rigid stand.
