Srinagar, Aug 18: Despite losing no-confidence vote three months ago, Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s former mayor Junaid Matoo is still having the protocols of mayor, a local news agency ‘Kashmir Dot Com’ said in a report.

Junaid Mattu, elected as SMC Mayor as a candidate of People’s Conference on 6 November 2018 following 40 corporators voted in his favor was removed from the post on 16 June 2020 after losing a no-confidence motion.

As a mayor, he was allotted an official Bunglow in high security zone of Church Lane in Sonwar, Srinagar, in addition to other protocols and a government SUV.

However three months after his removal from the mayoral post, he is still living in the same bunglow and enjoying other protocols when he is just a corporator.

Pertinently, the Mayor of Srinagar and Jammu civic bodies were having common protocols as other corporators, but after the abrogation of Article 370 in August last year, their status was raised to the equivalent to that of Minister of State (MoS).
