International Anti Corruption Day: People lauded ACB efforts to curb corruption in J&K

Srinagar, Dec 09 (Only Kashmir): Hoping for a corruption free society, the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption day hailed the great efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for playing its vital role in curbing this menace.

Pertinently, International Anti Corruption Day is observed annually 9th of December. ‘Recover With Integrity’ is the theme for International Anti Corruption Day 2020. International Anti Corruption Day 2020 has exposed how vulnerable the underprivileged people are amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Jammu and Kashmir, particularly after the abrogation of Article 370 last year, Anti Corruption Bureau has started a mammoth drive against the corrupt elements, during which the department registered several case against involved which including politicians, revenue officials, cooperators, contractors, and other officials, the drive according to the masses has undoubtedly created a fear psychosis among the corrupt elements.

Hailing the efforts of ACB, Youth coordinator J&K RTI Movement Mr. Naveed Bukhtiyar talking to Onlykashmir[dot]in said, “As Compare to previous years ACB is doing tremendous job these days, day in and day out we came to know about the activities of ACB,” he said and added, “what is more commendable is putting everything in public which will definitely create fear among the officers using their respective chairs inappropriately.”

Naveed said, “the definition of Corruption should be widened legally it is not only taking and giving Bribe, corruption prevails in our society in different ways by administrative delays, Red-tapism, nepotism, unauthorized absence etc.”

Pertinent to mention here, wide spread of corruption in J&K earlier created wide spread anguish and anger among the masses, to get rid out of this menace JK government has stresses on zero tolerance for corruption in J&K.

Talking to Onlykashmir[dot]in, Director ACB, Mr. Anand Jain (IPS) said, “Anti corruption day is an opportunity for all of us to collectively commit to prevent and address corruption, adding, It has to be multipronged strategy to combat corruption.”

Jain said, “Anti Corruption Bureau investigates and inquires into allegations of bribery. We are attempting to make all matters to be inquired in time bound manner. Departmental Vigilance officers are also being roped in for faster disposal of complaints.”

When this reporter enquired about the about the privacy of complainants, the ACB Director said “Identities of the complainants are kept secret. We have many points open for lodging grievance with ACB. Further details can be accessed from website www.jkacb.nic.in, ACB acts on the complainant received from all parts of Union Territory, be it rural or urban.”
